TheMinistry of Human Resource Development, headed by Hon’ble Mr.KapilSibal, has nominated G. Viswanathan, Founder-Chancellor of VITUniversity, Vellore, as a member of the Board of Governors of theIndian Institute of Information Technology (Design and Manufacturing),Kancheepuram. This institute is now functioning from IIT-Madras.

Dr. Viswanathan obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degree ineconomics from Loyola College, Chennai, completed Law from MadrasUniversity and advanced management programme at Harvard BusinessSchool, U.S. During his student days, the Dravida MunnetraKazhagam(DMK) chose him to contest the elections.

He was elected MP from the erstwhile Vandavasi Lok Sabha Constituency and also served as MLA in the Tamil Nadu Assembly twice.
