Infrastructure

INFRASTRUCTURE

In a short span of time, 4 permanent buildings (1,82,000 Sq.ft.)have been constructed. All departmental labs are well equipped with latest equipment and has 7 computer centers optimally networked to cater to the academic equirements of the students of all branches.

Infra-structure facilities for Games and Sports, a separate center for English Language Learning (CELL), HOBBEE Clubs by the technical branches, Departmental Libraries by the respective departments, hostel within the campus and college buses are the latest added facilities in the campus. The campus has 4 computer centers optimally networked to cater to the academic requirements of the students of all branches. A leased line of 512 Kbps is optimally connected to 100 systems in computer laboratories for Internet access by the students of the college for their project works, seminars and paper presentation. The college library has increased its volumes to over 17,000 (approx) books including hand books, reference books etc., with reprographic facility.

LIBRARY

From a small room in the neighboring Oasis school to the 3rd floor of the EEE block, then to the laboratory of the ECE block and now, to the spacious and lavish room of 527.31 sq mt., that has a seating capacity of 150 in the admin block, the journey for the library in the past 10 yrs. Has been a long but a very pleasant one. With one each of technical and non-members at the time of inception, the library has strengthened itself to 4 Technical and 4 non-technical members today.
The library has been the most integral part of the college from its existence. The efforts to increase the 2000 volumes, 600 titles to serve the 180 students & 25 staff of 1997 – 98 to the present2100 students & 200 staff with 25910 volumes, 6426 titles is both appreciable and applaudable. This shows an average increment of 2000 volumes per year!!
The college library has many journals for the students both technical and general which not only help them with technical assistance but also refresh their mind. We have 30 international journals in print version and also an online subscription i.e., the IEEE INDEST AICTE. Among the Indian journals, 46 are technical and 8of them are general of which one is the in house general “WE” i.e., Women Empowerment of the H&BS department. We also have 8 Indian technical and 19 general magazines.
The staff and students can utilize the INTERNET facility for which 10 systems have been separately allotted. The extended timings of the library 9AM – 6PM are very much student-friendly as students can spend time even before and after college hours. The system followed in the library is fully automated.
Three cards are being issued to the B.Tech & Four cards for M.Tech students from the 1st year itself. Even the span for which the books are issued has increased from a week to 15 days.
Daily, on an average, 100 – 150 on normal days and 300 – 400 users during examination days visit the library and utilize the facilities. Besides this, a few more students and staff during the extended hours for their project and research work through INTERNET are allowed in the library.
All faculty members are eligible for 6 library cards and non – teaching cards receive 1. An additional 2 cards are issued to those staff members who are pursuing Higher studies. All the transactions (issue & return) are computerized.
The college library has been provided with the facility of an Open Access Catalogue (OPAC) which let us know the present status of happening s i.e., the number of books issued on a student’s name, the availability of a book in the library, the day books have been issued etc. thus making things easier for both staff and students. Four systems have been allotted for this purpose.

The library has also maintained a record of the question papers of previous exams and also the final year project works, to help students get some guidance. Book exhibitions have been held by all the major publishers, to mention by name the Oxford Press, Cambridge University Press, PHI, Prentice Hall, New Age, Asian, Higginbothams etc. Reprographic facility has also been provided in the library to help students get a copy of the information they need.

With so many facilities being provided and with the increasing number of volumes every year the journey for the library still seems to be going ahead with plans of an exclusive block for the library on the cards!!
